Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild

Ben visits former war journalist Alison Porteous, to find out what took his host from a career reporting on the front line to life on a remote island on Lake Victoria. He learns of the events that bind Ali to Uganda's violent past and discovers how her beautiful home is helping heal her own wounds.

Ben ventures into the forested wilderness of Scandinavia to stay with two artists - Tronde, a 69-year-old Norwegian, and Robert, his 61-year-old Lebanese friend and business partner. The pair relocated to the Norwegian wilds later in life, and despite both facing serious health challenges, they are more determined than ever to expand and embrace their forest hideaway.

Ben travels to Montana, USA, and visits a homestead perched on one of the region's highest mountains - home to the Bellrose family. There he meets Brandon and Alisa and their four children, who have spent five years battling a brutal climate where daily life can be a matter of survival. Ben joins the off-grid clan in their cramped RV as they work toward launching a new business for winter sports enthusiasts.

Ben stays in Northern England to explore a different kind of wild living. Joining Dave on a narrowboat, he discovers how the canals offered him solace and a renewed sense of purpose. As they prepare and cruise the waterways, Ben experiences the physical demands of boat life while witnessing the extraordinary wildlife that shapes Dave's off-grid lifestyle.

Ben Fogle heads to the island of Tenerife to visit young couple Emma and Edo, whose ambition to rescue a few horses has created a community farm and very different wild sanctuary.

Ben Fogle meets Randilyn, a woman on a perpetual walk across the US. What began as a solitary journey with her dog has grown into a multi-wagon caravan, complete with a menagerie of animals she cares for on the move. As Ben uncovers what first set her on this path, he's confronted with the realities of travelling her way, including the hazardous routes she takes to reach each new destination.

Ben travels almost 10,000 miles to the remote Pacific atoll of Ahe, in French Polynesia, to meet three generations of the Humbert family. Their lives revolve around their off-grid pearl farm and the ocean they call home. As Ben gets to know the family, he discovers how they have overcome debt, illness and hardship to build a life in one of the most isolated places on Earth.

Ben travels to the frozen forests of Norway, where he meets former radio DJ and music-industry insider Marit Karlsen, who has swapped Oslo's fast-paced city life for a remote, off-grid cabin in the wilderness. As Ben joins her in battling heavy snow, collecting water, installing a new stove and tackling the daily demands of cabin life, he discovers why she walked away from everything.
