Mystery Forest

Sixteen years ago, on Lunar New Year's Eve, a devastating explosion tore through Zhao Zhiguo's lumber mill in Xinchun, destroying the Zhao family. His son, Zhao Long, miraculously survived but vanished without a trace. Sixteen years later, Zhao Long returns to his hometown under the alias Wang Hong. Using the purchase of Korean pine timber as a cover, he sets out to uncover the truth behind his family's tragedy. Meanwhile, tensions run high in Xinchun as a logging ban on Korean pine disrupts the timber industry, fueling conflicts among powerful businessmen, including Teng Laohu and his son, and Lin Shengli. When a series of murders shakes the town, criminal investigator Cao Jin is assigned to the cases. As Wang Hong navigates mounting dangers, he searches for old Korean pine timber bearing a distinctive paint marking, a crucial clue to the tragedy sixteen years earlier. Along the way, he meets Li Xuefei, a young woman searching for her missing mother, and the two join forces. As their investigation deepens, long-buried clues begin to surface, connecting a string of murders to an intricate timber-smuggling operation. One by one, hidden secrets are exposed, bringing the true culprit into the light. After surviving countless dangers and finally uncovering the truth, Wang Hong makes peace with his painful past and leaves Xinchun behind, ready to begin a new chapter of his life.
